So April is one of the months with Camp NaNoWriMo and since I finally managed to plot out my next novel, I shall be taking part. I’m still trying to write about my librarians from the last two NaNoWriMos but frankly, it’s a completely different novel from the one I started a year and a half ago. But I’m pretty sanguine about finally finishing it because the outline ended up as pretty awesome and also, I’m a much better writer than I was way back then.
Because I’ve noticed that I work better when I’m accountable of my work to someone other than myself I’m dedicating Wednesday posts during at least April to presenting my progress on the novel. And because I like Cherie Priest’s format of doing just that, I’m – ahem – borrowing it.
So without further ado, I present the progress on dimensional-gateway-guarding librarians now with a bonus of an escaped werewolf-type creature from another dimension!
Project: Librarians
Deadline: May 31, 2013
New words written: 7,700 (I’m behind but I’m still pretty hopeful)
Present total word count: 7,700
Things accomplished in fiction: Introduced my main character and her co-workers.
Next up: My yennork (it’s a placeholder name to mark a horror-movie-werewolf-type creature who don’t change and are intelligent in wolfish form) will make a deal with my MC to not eat anyone in exchange for getting a portal home.
Things accomplished in real life: So very little it seems. 😀 I’m taking a course called Functional Programming Principles in Scala with the Polytechnic of Lausanne through Coursera and as of now I’m barely keeping apace with the lessons. I have managed to pare down my todo-list for now so I should be able to catch up by the weekend. I also need to step up on my job applications but there doesn’t seem to be that much available in Helsinki right now or I’ve already applied to what is.
