Capybaras are the biggest rodents in the world. Its name comes from the Tupi language word meaning grass-eater. And they’re very specialized in which grasses they eat and when, opting to leave some grasses alone when their nutritional values drop.
They’re highly social animals that live in family groups, much like prairie dogs. But unlike prairie dogs, capybaras are semi-aquatic. They love to wallow in mud and in water. As long as their noses stay above they surface, they can stay submerged for hours on end. The greatest thing about capybaras though is that they look awesome.
