My goodness does time fly. It’s the end of March already. Since I work best with having some accountability I’m going to just go ahead and do one of these check-in posts every month so that I’ll be able to keep myself accountable.

Attend Clarion Writers Workshop

The wait as far as the Clarions go is over. Clarion UCSD sent a rejection on the 12th and the rejection for Clarion West came in on the 18th. Right now I’m looking into what are the other short story workshops I could attend this year. And I’m waiting for the reply from Odyssey.

Actions

  • Wait.
  • Find more workshops. (In progress)

Win Writers of the Future

The March deadline is almost here and the first story is now done. I’m just finishing up my last revisions before the submission deadline rolls around. There is also a list of other stories that I need to finish at some point.

Actions

  • Plan at least ten short stories.

Get my second novel to the submission stage

The Schedule says that I need to get started on the writing in the next two weeks but I already have a few scenes done and the writing is going great so far.

  • Write. (In progress)
  • Write some more.

Get an agent

The queries are out to the top 11 of my agent choices. My coach, Cathy Yardley, helped me whip my query letter into shape. I gathered the packages and sent them to my initial list. Now I’m waiting for responses from that list and mining QueryTracker for more. This seems to be my year for waiting.

Actions

  • Gather submission packages by agent.
  • Submit.
  • Repeat last two steps until the list has been thoroughly mined.(In progress)
  • Wait. (Also in progress.)
