I went through a bunch of topics for today from the rise of fascism in modern day Europe to fashion as a personal and societal marker. But with the news of the past week, especially with regard to the Syrian refugee crisis, none of them seemed in any way appropriate. So what I figured instead was that I’d supply you, my dear readers, with links to how you can help, should you wish to. I can only really provide links to what’s happening in Finland as well and some more general ones, so I would be very grateful if anyone reading this can leave a comment with links to their own country’s resources. Or a link to a similar post on their own sites, the more the merrier.
- Finnish Red Cross you can donate money, supplies/clothes, and/or your time.
- Pakolaisapu is a non-profit directed specifically at helping refugees and other immigrants in integrating to Finland.
- Refugees welcome – Kotimajoitusta turvapaikanhakijoille a Facebook group attempting to place refugees in Finnish homes
The Syrian refugee crisis started out at least partly, if not mostly, because of global warming. We have all contributed to creating it. Now it’s time to help make it better.
