I miss my gym. I miss my trainer. One of the things that I really love about my body is how strong it feels when lifting the heavy things. I miss that feeling. And I know countries around the world are currently coming out of lockdown, but the first signs from Germany seem to point to a resurgence of the plague, so it seems likely that we will all be spending a lot more time at home this year. With that in mind, here’s what I’ve been using, or trying to use to stay functional here in the time of all sit, no gym.
Yoga with Adriene
I’m pretty sure I’ve recommended Yoga with Adriene before and will probably continue to do so. Here’s one I’ve been referring to lately:
Jessamyn Stanley and The Underbelly
Jessamyn Stanley is a recent find for me. Her Underbelly yoga studio provides online yoga classes for a subscription fee. I know it’s another yoga, but for me, at least, Jessamyn and Adriene have completely different vibes. Jessamyn’s classes felt more focused on strength while Adriene’s feel more focused on mobility and balance.
Chloe Ting is more of a fitness instructor and she has some really good supersets that my personal trainer would love. This one hurt. In a really, really good way.
The Fitness Marshall
YouTube has a lot of fun dance workout channels but I really like The Fitness Marshall. For one, I really love that they often have a bigger girl as one of the background dancers. For another, even if they don’t necessarily always use the dance playlist of my heart, he’s always fun to watch. (As an aside, if you’re looking for a different kind of playlist, Keaira Lashea is great for hip-hop, dancehall, afrobeats, Jamaican… Just a really good workout in general).
