Here we are, nearly a quarter into the year. It feels like the years are speeding up again after so long in pandemic-related slow down. Of course, other matters may have an effect on that part of it. Anyway. It feels like time is running away from me again, so it’s helpful to me to remind myself that I’m actually doing things. So what have I done?

Writing

Writing feels like my weakest accomplishment. I’m still working on the edits for the same book that I started the year with. But, on the other hand, this is the third pass I’m making at this book in that time, so that makes me feel a little better. The downside is that there are at least three more passes to go after I finish this one. But I’m sure it will be worth it. And hopefully, all of this work now will make it easier the next time I’m editing a novel.

Sewing

I have finished a ton of things.

1 pair of jeans

2 jumpsuits

2 pairs of underwear

5 t-shirts

2 sweaters

1 pair of joggers

1 hoodie

1 quilt

and the pants for a pair of pajamas, the shirt for which I’m working on right now. I’m publishing a video about all of the things I’ve made next week on the YouTube channel. This is objectively a lot of things for someone who has a full-time day job and also a side hustle as a novelist.

Other things

I passed the point of being able to lift over a third of my own body weight in both directions; pull-ups and deadlifts. I’ve also made great strides in terms of mobility. It’s still a work in posture but for the first time since I was a teenager, probably, I’ve been able to stand with good posture for prolonged times. I’m still not perfect by a long-shot, but I’ve been making a lot of progress even during the last three months. And I’m really pleased about that.

Listed like this, I have actually managed to get quite a few things done. Honestly, I wish it were more, but at the same time, I’m excited it’s not less. Sometimes it’s just like that. Going toward the end of the first half of the year, I really want to be done with the novel. I want to sew more and just challenge myself on the sewing. I need more t-shirts, but I’m also excited to make things that make me learn new skills. And it’s time to start seriously training for Naisten Kymppi again. It’ll be great.
